Deadwood announces free Main Street summer entertainment

Deadwood (2-8-2016) – The Deadwood Chamber has announced its free Main Street entertainment line-up for summer events. Wild Bill Days June 17-18, Deadwood's weekend of paying tribute to its most famous resident, will be a weekend of top tribute bands belting the hits of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett, Michael Jackson and Garth Brooks. These Las Vegas-based tributes will be complete with full bands. Besides the free Main Street concerts, Wild Bill Days also features national DockDogs competitions, gold panning and Wild West re-enactors.

"Wild Bill Days is a tribute to a Wild West legend. Having the world's most well-known songs performed by world-class tribute bands throughout the weekend fits right in," said Lee Harstad, director of the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce. "It's definitely going to be a weekend to let your hair down."

Deadwood's largest summer event, Kool Deadwood Nites, is August 25-28 and features classic cars, and music. Free Main Street concerts during Kool Deadwood Nites include Art Poco's Rat Pack Tribute, Gary Lewis & The Playboys and The Sweet. The Rat Pack Tribute, with the look and sound of the original trio of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., will take the stage Thursday, August 25.

Gary Lewis & The Playboys, with eight gold singles, 17 top 40 hits, four gold albums and 45 million records sold worldwide, will take the Kool Deadwood Nites stage on Friday, August 26. Their hits include "This Diamond Ring," "Count Me In," "Save Your Heart for Me," "She's Just My Style," "Everybody Loves a Clown," "Green Grass" and more.

The Sweet band formed in 1968 and had their first number one hit in 1973, with "Blockbuster." From there, the band went on to international success among rock fans. Additional top hits include "Love is Like Oxygen," "Fox on the Run," "Ballroom Blitz," "Teenage Rampage," and more.

Kool Deadwood Nites features the largest classic car show in the area, attracting thousands of vintage vehicles, as well as car auctions, show and shines, parade and more.
