PIERRE, S.D. – Are you looking for a great opportunity to introduce your family and friends to the outdoors of South Dakota? Get out and enjoy the South Dakota Outdoor Expo on May 17-18 at the State Fairgrounds in Huron, S.D.
“The Outdoor Expo was created to introduce families and children to the excellent outdoor opportunities available in South Dakota,” said Candi Hettinger, marketing/events coordinator for the South Dakota State Fairgrounds. “We want to provide hands-on, educational activities, while having the latest in sporting equipment and techniques available for the current outdoor enthusiast.”
There are more than 100 interactive stations planned for the event including: kayaking, canoeing, hunting dog demonstrations, shooting sports, archery, wildlife calling demonstrations, geocaching and much more! All events will be held on the State Fairgrounds in Huron, and are free to the public.
“Families can expect to gather a greater understanding and appreciation for conservation and outdoor recreation in South Dakota,” said Hettinger. “Getting families and children actively involved is an important part to preserving all of our outdoor traditions.”
In addition to the first ever Outdoor Expo, May 16-18 is South Dakota free fishing and state parks open house weekend. This is a great opportunity for families to try their hands at fishing the South Dakota waters or exploring the state parks and recreation areas free of charge.
This weekend will undoubtedly bring out the outdoor enthusiast in everyone. Make a trip out to the SD State Fairgrounds in Huron, S.D. and one of the many South Dakota state parks to experience a weekend full of outdoor adventure.
